CASL Mission Statement

The mission of The California Association of Student Leaders (CASL) as a student-led, not-for-profit organization is to provide a statewide network, which facilitates the development of ethical, responsible, and servant leaders. CASL’s initiative is to equip and empower students to be effective future leaders of the world through local, regional, and statewide conferences.

How Bellflower ASB Leaders Support the CASL Mission Statement

Bellflower Middle/High School Associated Student Body student leaders support the CASL Mission Statement of ethical, responsible, and servant leaders by demonstrating the 5 characteristics of Buc PRIDE. Positivity, Respect, Integrity, Dedication, and Excellence, all day, every day. The mission of Bellflower Middle/High School is to offer safe, inclusive, fun, and service-oriented experiences for our students, staffulty, and community.

Before the school year began, our leaders connected during ASB Camp at Lions Camp at Teresita Pines, where we bonded and connected with new classmates. During camp, the Executive Cabinet informed our Change Agents of what the year could potentially look like. The Cabinet introduced them to the CADA/CASL roadmap and stressed the importance of keeping these checkpoints in mind while creating activities. We worked in groups to get to know each other and discuss what the school would look like, feel like, and sound like if each idea was executed correctly and thoroughly. We then created goals and discussed how we would meet them.

This school year our Change Agents worked hard to introduce new, fun ideas while also trying to preserve traditions that many students and faculty value. We are ensuring that we display what it means to be ethical, responsible, and servant leaders. As leaders on campus, we recognize that we have to create a great school culture and environment while acting as role models to the school and community. Our goal is not only to be the nicest kids but also to be the most encouraging and inspiring students in order to make school a welcoming and safe place for all students and staffulty.

Our ASB Directors, Assistant Principal of Activities, and other members have attended several conferences over the last few years. Mrs. Hovis &  and other faculty have attended many CADA Conventions and Mrs.Hovis; our primary advisor, is also in the Master Activities Director program at this year’s convention.  Many of our leaders have attended the CASL conferences over the last few school years. This school year, we also attended a training hosted by Keith Hawkins, which focused on student leadership and shaping students into becoming the best version of themselves. We also attended the fall Area E CADA conference in Pasadena. This was not only a great training experience but also an amazing bonding opportunity for all of our Change Agents. These conferences have inspired new ideas for our campus community and have helped us grow into stronger leaders with a better understanding of leadership.

In addition to learning from these conferences and applying them on our campus, we also love to hear any feedback from our student population and staffulty. Our leaders work extremely hard to be effective, and we constantly encourage our Bucs to serve and support the school and the community by getting them involved in school projects. One project this year that shines above all others is Fall Fest mainly because of the club participation and amazing outcome. There were over 1,000 attendees who came and enjoyed this festival with their loved ones.

Over the past few years, Bellflower Middle/High School has been involved in CASL, and as a result, we have transformed into a program that prioritizes encouraging diversity, creating connections with our community, building character, and helping strengthen our Change Agents into leaders of our future world. We believe in working hard to make life better for every Buc every day…Because Unity Creates Success!
